Book Review: A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer

A fantastic fantasy retelling

As you probably know, this book is a Beauty and the Beast retelling. Although it follows the same story, it kept surprising me all throughout the book. The story is well-paced, the actions and the romance are perfectly well-balanced, and this is probably why I read 300 pages without being able to stop on the first day that I picked this read.

The story follows Harper, who lives in Washington, DC, a girl who has cerebral palsy.  She is mistakenly sucked into Emberfall, the kingdom of Prince Rhen. Emberfall is subject to a curse, and the prince transforms into a monster at the end of each season, killing his people against his will. Of course, only one thing can break the curse: if someone falls in love with him.

As a blogger, I decided to only review ARCs and recently published books. But I still need to talk about books that I love, and after seeing mini reviews a lot on other blogs, I figured this was the best way to talk about more books without writing a full review on it (especially when it’s a series) (and also especially when all I have to say about the books is that THEY’RE GREAT. I mean, the review would be pretty boring).

Today’s post will be about blogging, and more specifically, reading. This will be a new series of post that will be featured on my blog. I’m quite new to blogging compared to some other people, but I will try to give you tips on how to blog, from my experience.

The first post will be dedicated to something that we all struggle with, whether you’re a blogger or not: reading efficiently.

In general, we all have something else to do in our life, whether it’s work, school, other hobbies. So when do we find time to read when we have 10 other things to do in a day?

Here are some tips that I learned by experience (and that I’m trying to apply everyday…) to help you manage your time for more reading:

I’m Back! Resolutions of a College-Bound Blogger

Hi everyone!

No, you’re not dreaming, your dear favorite (ghost) blogger is finally back!

You may have noticed that I haven’t posted for almost one month now. The end of August and the beginning of September were really, really busy.

To sum up, I:

• moved in with my boyfriend and my cat in my new apartment in a new city
• started university (which I first left last year, because I was wrong in my choice of orientation, and my mental health was really bad), I am now studying Literature!
• started living a real adult life (with bills, things to remember all by yourself, like wash the dishes so the place doesn’t smell too bad)

So yeah, all of this took a lot of time, and I had to stop blogging for a while to figure out how to handle my life as a blogger and a college student.

So here’s my resolutions for this new school year!
